CrisGuide, Tour leader and Co-owner of Peregrinus Expeditions



Cristhian Urena was born and raised in Turrialba, Costa Rica situated in the Caribbean foothills surrounded with beautiful mountains and volcanoes. At an early age, he became captivated by nature and took special interest in birds and frogs. These interests had him exploring the local towns and environments providing him with an exceptional knowledge of the environments of the Turrialba area. 
Deciding to focus on sustainable tourism, he moved to the pacific coast to study Rural Sustainable Tourism at Technology University of Costa Rica. Cristhian’s final project during his studies involved ecotourism development in small communities in Cartago, Costa Rica. After his degree, Cristhian worked for 8 years on the Caribbean Coast and in northern Costa Rica at reserves and parks such as Tirimbina Biological Reserve, Veragua Rainforest Center and at Rancho Naturalista. These opportunities helped him to increase his knowledge about indigenous cultures, chocolate production, bats, frogs, the natural history of Costa Rican biodiversity, and of course, birds! In 2013 he made the decision to start his own company Peregrinus Expeditions.
Cristhian constantly looks to exceed his client’s expectations and show them parts of Costa Rica that many travellers do not get to see. On a tour with Christian and his wife, Carolina, you have the chance to visit the dry forests of Guanacaste, cloud forests of Savegre or Monteverde, the Pacific and Caribbean coasts, and adventure through the highlands and lowlands beautiful Costa Rica. Christian aims to share as much as he can about each environment and make each traveler fall in love with Costa Rica while having an amazing experience having fun!

Carolina Seas grew up in the Central Valley of Costa Rica. Although was raised in the city, she found a passion for nature and eventually decided to study Biology. Carolina moved her focus towards conservation and environmental management and is now in graduate school studying Natural
Resources Management. Her student research includes work at the La Selva Biological Station with bioluminescent fungi, being a teacher assistant in several Botany courses and an Assistant Editor for a couple of well-known science journals. In 2010, Carolina began working in sustainable tourism by guiding biology student groups through Costa Rica. She had the opportunity to share her passion for nature with students and tourists while they gained knowledge about sustainability, conservation and natural resource management. He grew up in Tucurrique, Costa Rica, surrounded by huge mountains and hills, since he was nine years old he has been interested in nature, especially in birds, this has motivated him to know places and people who have helped him to know and learn many things about this natural world.
Now, he is eighteen and is starting out in tourism so he can bring his knowledge and love of nature to other people.
